Gaming zählt für viele junge Menschen zu einer wichtigen Freizeitaktivität, wobei die COVID-19-Pandemie als zusätzlicher Katalysator für digitale Spielwelten wirkte. Auch institutionell gewinnt Gaming an Bedeutung – etwa durch E-Sport, pädagogische Projekte oder Streaming-Plattformen. Dabei reicht das Spektrum von problematischen Nutzungsformen bis hin zum Erwerb vielfältiger Kompetenzen, etwa in den Bereichen Teamarbeit und Problemlösen.
